Organizers of the Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFIC) have agreed on a new partnership in which Ethiopia will organize the next edition of the forum.

The very first Ethio-Ghana International Conference on Trade and Finance will take place from 11 to 12 April 2019 at the luxurious Sheraton Hotel in Addis Ababa.

Conference organizers, Rescue Shipping and Investment Agency, signed a memorandum of understanding last week with the Chamber of Commerce and Sector Associations Addis Ababa to organize the conference.

Selasi Kofi Ackom, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Rescue Shipping and Investment Agency Limited, signed on behalf of the Ghanaian company, while Mr Getachew Regassa, Secretary General of the Addis Ababa Chamber, which includes more than 17,000 companies and companies, signed on behalf of the Ethiopians.

After the second successful GITFIC organization at the Best Western Premier Hotel in Accra in April 2018, Mr Ackom announced:we go globetrotting with GITFIC for a while and return to Ghana for the 10th edition. “

The decision to hold the next conference in Ethiopia is fulfilled with that promise.

In 2017, the Ministry of Trade and Industry set up a bureau to receive proposals for the One District – One Factory initiative at the first edition of GITFIC.

The Mexican ambassador in Ghana used the same platform to announce that her country has decided to use Ghana as a gateway for its $ 9- $ 15 billion investment in West Africa.

This upcoming conference will, as always, create the platform for business VVIPs, VIPs, CEOs, MDs, owners, etc. To meet business and investment opportunities between the two countries and to discuss“Mr. Ackom announced after signing the MOU.

He says that the objective behind the decision to bring the conference to Ethiopia is to stimulate trade between the two countries by creating a common platform and laying the foundations to achieve the same.

What the next year’s conference in Ethiopia necessitated is the almost 0% trade relationship between the two countries. History reminds us that the front runners for the total liberation of the African continent are Ghana’s Osagyefo. Kwame Nkrumah from the CPP and Hailie Selassie in Ethiopia and some other African countries. It is therefore absurd that trade between these two countries is in record time of 0%,“Mr. Ackom said.

All companies in Ghana are encouraged to sign up for next year’s conference in Addis. The Addis market is three times as large as that of Ghana. Youth accounts for 70% of the total population in Ethiopia. This simply means that companies and companies can triple their sales and profit margin as they expand their investments in the Ethiopian market“, Added Mr. Ackom.

GITFIC and the Addis Chamber have announced that they are committed to getting businessmen, government officials, decision-makers and regulators from both countries to build a bridge for more trade between the two countries.

The Ghanaian embassy in Addis Ababa and the Ethiopian embassy in Ghana will play supporting and facilitating roles in the conference.

A sensitization workshop will be held in December to raise awareness among the more than 17,000 members of the Addis Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations at the upcoming International Conference.

This workshop will clearly describe the IMPORTANCE of this upcoming conference and all the benefits this will bring for Ethiopian companies. The same will be replicated here in January 2019 in Ghana.
